New Yamaha R1 to undergo testing with Rossi.

Valentino Rossi is said to be testing the new Yamaha R1 within the next few weeks. Yamaha released a video (below) which hints at unveiling the new R1 on the 3rd of November at the EICMA show in Milan.

What can we expect from the new R1? Well unlike rumors of the past, it will still feature a 4 cylinder crossplane crank engine as the previous model, allowing for the same glorious engine roar.

Additionally Yamaha are said to be producing two versions, a high performance race version with an estimated 230hp and a more standard version, featuring a dual-clutch gearbox much like the DSG gearboxes found in various hot-hatches. Interesting indeed.

For 2015 the choice is yours, BMW S1000RR, Kawsaki H2, or Yamaha R1. The new Suzuki GSX-R1000 isn’t as radical as competitors and we still await new 1000cc models from Honda and various other manufacturers.

Lets wait for the comparison tests to settle the debate, but I for one, hope the new R1 will be more competitive on the track this time.
